If you searched "KIPRUN Singapore" in June 2026, Google probably showed you a race first. Fair enough: Decathlon and MetaSport are staging The Kiprun Race Singapore on 27 September 2026, with half marathon, 10 km, 5 km and kids distances. But KIPRUN is also Decathlon's performance running brand, and the 2026 shoe lineup is the most credible it has ever been in Singapore: daily trainers from S$59.90, carbon-plated racers at S$149.90–199.90, and a wear-test policy that actually lets you run in the shoes before you commit.

What KIPRUN is (and what it is not)

KIPRUN is Decathlon's in-house performance running brand: road shoes, trail shoes, apparel and hydration gear sold only through Decathlon. It grew out of Kalenji (Decathlon's entry running line since 2004); the performance sub-brand launched around 2018 and absorbed trail label Evadict in 2021. The 2025–2026 refresh simplified naming to Kipcore / Kipride / Kipstorm / Kipsummit and pushed a global "More Runs. More Life." positioning.

KIPRUN is not trying to out-hype Nike or ASICS on brand prestige. The play is vertical integration: Decathlon designs the foam, controls manufacturing, and sells direct. That is why a S$99.90 daily trainer with published stack heights exists in the same mall as a S$219 Novablast.

Which KIPRUN shoe should you buy?

Match the shoe to the job, not the marketing photo.

Beginner or casual 5K: Kipcore (S$59.90). Lightweight M Foam daily shoe at the price of two hawker lunches. Decathlon lists 4.8/5 from thousands of reviews. It is not a race shoe; it is the honest first pair for park connectors and treadmill sessions.

Daily training miles: Kipride (S$99.90). Fastech foam, 243 g, 36/30 mm stack. Singapore's Daily Running Co. calls the midsole excellent value but notes the upper runs narrow and some testers had tongue chafing. Try before you buy if you have wide feet.

Long runs and recovery days: Kipride Max (S$129.90). SOFTECH+ and a 42/36 mm stack for max cushion without jumping to S$200+ Nimbus territory. Same narrow-fit caveat as Kipride.

Tempo and interval sessions: Kipstorm Tempo (S$149.90). High-stack speed trainer without a carbon plate: 225 g listed, Fastech+. Daily Running Co. measured roughly 256 g at EU 45 and praised performance-per-dollar at S$149; the upper is the weak link versus Nike or adidas tier.

Race day (5K to half marathon): Kipstorm Challenger (S$149.90). Carbon plate at the same sticker price as the Tempo. Listed at 195 g: the lightest plated option in the current range. For a first carbon shoe without spending S$300+, this is the rational Singapore pick.

Marathon super shoe: Kipstorm Elite (S$199.90). Top of the KIPRUN stack: Fastech+, carbon plate, co-developed with elite athletes including Jimmy Gressier. RunRepeat's lab cut-in-half test rates it a legitimate super shoe: stable forefoot, outstanding outsole durability, but heavier than category leaders like Nike Alphafly or ASICS Metaspeed.

Trail and hybrid: Kipsummit Max (S$149.90). Max-cushion trail with Vibram Megagrip. RunRepeat's lab test found top-tier trail foam and strong value; fit runs narrow. Pair with MacRitchie or Bukit Timah sessions, not East Coast Park tempo laps.

Flagship models in detail

Kipstorm Elite: S$199.90

Decathlon positions Elite for marathon racing: 5 mm drop, 215 g listed, carbon plate and Fastech+. RunRepeat measured 39 mm heel / 34 mm forefoot stack and men 216 g: legit super-shoe territory, with outsole durability scoring in the top tier of road shoes they have tested. The trade-off is weight versus Alphafly-class racers and a smaller review sample (4.9/5 from 40 ratings on decathlon.sg at time of writing).

Kipstorm Tempo vs Challenger: same price, different job

Both sit at S$149.90. The Tempo is a plated-free high-stack tempo trainer (45/37 mm listed). The Challenger adds a carbon plate and drops to 195 g listed. Buy Tempo for Tuesday track sessions and Thursday tempos; buy Challenger for race day. Do not buy Challenger as a daily trainer: carbon plates are for speed, not recovery jogs.

Kipride and Kipride Max

The daily-trainer heart of the range. Kipride at S$99.90 undercuts Brooks Ghost and Saucony Kinvara on list price while publishing stack and weight data competitors often bury. Kipride Max adds 6 mm more stack for runners who want Nimbus-class cushion without leaving Decathlon.

Legacy models: KD900, KD800: buy or skip?

Decathlon Singapore is mid-transition. Older KD900.2 (clearance around S$74.90, was S$129.90), KD800 (around S$69.90 on sale), and KD900X carbon variants still appear on decathlon.sg: many flagged "Available In Store Only".
